Questions you may have
What is Online Therapy?

Online therapy (Teletherapy) is similar to in-person therapy but it is in the comfort of your own home or office. All you will need is a private space where you will have no interruptions, a computer and a good internet connection. The sessions are conducted through a secure HIPAA compliant video conferencing platform. I can also provide phone sessions if you do not have access to internet.

Is Online Therapy the Right Fit For Me?

Online therapy offers a flexible, accessible alternative to traditional in-person therapy sessions, making it an excellent option for those with busy schedules or limited access to local mental health resources. It is ideal if you prefer the convenience of receiving support from the comfort of your own home. However, online therapy requires a stable internet connection and a private space where you can speak freely without interruptions. If you feel comfortable communicating via video or phone and are looking for a versatile approach to therapy, teletherapy might be a perfect fit for you.

Important to note: Online therapy (teletherapy) is not appropriate if you are in a crisis, feeling unsafe or suicidal or have severe mental health conditions which require in person care.

How Do I Get Started?

I offer a complimentary 15-20 minute phone consultation This initial call provides us both with the opportunity to get to know each other, discuss your goals and concerns, and determine how our therapy sessions can be most beneficial for you. It's a no-obligation conversation aimed at making you feel comfortable and ensuring that we're the right fit. To schedule, simply contact me through the email or phone number on this website.

What is the Cost Per Session?

I charge $120 for a 55 minute session. I have a sliding scale for seniors 65+.

I use a HIPAA compliant platform where all scheduling, and payments are done. Credit cards, checks can be used for payment.

As of January 1, 2022, state licensed or certified health care providers are required to give a Good Faith Estimate of healthcare charges to every new and continuing client who does not have health insurance or does not plan to submit a claim to their insurance.

Do You Take Insurance?

I now accept Aetna, Cigna, Anthem Blue Cross, Blue Shield of California, Kaiser Permanente of Northern California (out of network), and Optum (United Healthcare).

If you intend to use your insurance, I can help you with that process but  I recommend that you contact your plan before our first session to inquire about your psychotherapy benefits, asking the following questions:

  • Do I have mental health insurance benefits?

  • Are “out of network” providers covered for mental health services?

  • What is my deductible and what is the coverage amount per service?

  • How many sessions does my insurance cover per year?

  • Will the insurance company exclude certain diagnoses?

  • Does my insurance cover Teletherapy? Individual therapy? EAP?

  • Is approval required from my primary care physician?

This will help ensure you fully understand your coverage and any potential out-of-pocket costs.
